What is Chin
Augmentation?
A small or weak chin, like a disproportionate nose, can affect the
overall harmony of a face. Whether done at the time of nasal surgery or
facelift surgery, or as a separate procedure, a chin implant can produce
a dramatic improvement in facial profile and balance.

Beverly Hills facial
plastic surgeon Dr. Torkian commonly uses silastic implants allowing for
a range of implant sizes and shapes for individual augmentation needs.
The procedure is generally combined with
rhinoplasty, facelift surgery,
or liposuction of the neck. As an isolated procedure, chin implantation
can usually be done with local anesthesia, and patients go home on the
day of surgery.
Chin implants come in various shapes and sizes. Dr.
Torkian will use a number of criteria including amount of projection and
width needed to give you the best result. In some cases, an older chin
implant that was previously placed may be removed and replaced with a new
implant of proper dimensions and shape for an improved result on previous chin
augmentation surgery.
In some cases, injectable materials or
fat grafting can be used to augment the chin. This allows for quicker
recovery after a simple office procedure to augment your chin. Ask Dr.
Torkian if injectable chin augmentation is right for you.
